Born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra in India he was always passionate about food and drinks. It was his passion, that drove him to work at Hotel Randolph here in Oxford London as a wine sommelier for many years. Amid the COVID 19 pandemic, Chicago-based chain Graduate Hotels bought the Randolph and made 75 of the 84 staff redundant to carry out a massive renovation there. Amid all the dampened spirits, there was a fire within Rohit, a fire to start something of his own .. and in Dec 2021 he launched his very own restaurant "TRIBE"

The restaurant showcases the Warli art - one of them, if not the oldest, artforms known to man. It depicts the social life of the community. The Warli community has beliefs deeply rooted in preserving and worshipping nature. The symbolism in the Warli art represents the circle of life. The harmony and balance depicted in these paintings are supposed to signify the harmony and balance of the universe. It is an artform Rohit Shet holds close to his heart. It is what inspired him to follow his culinary passion.
